A fine example of an early-19th century or earlier hand-carved French oak side table. The oak plank top sits on an ornate frieze. Four turned legs are united by twin turned stretchers and a central turned stretcher. The decoration is consistent around all four sides of the table, allowing it to free-stand in the centre of a room. Therefore, its ideal as a side, hall, occasional or writing table.
This piece is in good, original condition with a wonderfully rich brown colour and patination. There are few old impression marks to the top and corners, as to be expected with an antique of its age. 108 x 66 x 76 cm.
