Beautiful antique 19th Century carved oak Gothic tracery cabinet with marble top circa 1880. Exquisitely carved Gothic details including trefoils, quatrefoils, oak leaves and Gothic tracery. Cabinet measures approximately 53 1/2" tall with a width of 16 1/4" and a depth of 15"; Marble top measures 14 7/8" by 13. Has a small top shelf, small drawer, porcelain lined cabinet and oak bottom shelf. Original oak pulls and brass hardware.
Most likely used as a smoking stand but could also have been a small cellarette (liquor) or church sacristy cabinet. Original antique finish in very nice condition with age related (see pics) wear.
Marble top in excellent condition with no chips or cracks; some minor pitting and very minor fleabites on the back edge. Some minor wear & discoloration to the porcelain lining; Some minor discoloration to bottom oak shelf; Very old chip to the bottom of the back (right) leg not noticeable from the front.
Overall, this antique cabinet is in very good original condition and has been very well cared for over the past 140 years! The carvings are highly detailed and simply beautiful!Would make a fine addition to any Gothic or Victorian home and is perfect for the Gothic cabinet collector/enthusiast!
